About Sarah
Hello, I'm Sarah Harper.
Author of The Little Star Who Found Home.

A note from the author
I'm Sarah Harper, a 38-year-old author from Surrey. I spent time in foster care before going to live with my mum and dad, my adoptive parents, when I was two years old, before my third birthday.
My own experiences give the themes of family, identity and belonging a personal place in my heart. Through my book, The Little Star Who Found Home, I want to make space for children's questions and feelings, and remind them that every part of their story matters.
This book is a gentle starting point for families to talk, listen and explore those stories together. Above all, I want children to know that they are loved for who they are. 💛

The dedication in the book
For Mum and Dad
Thank you for filling my home with love and laughter.
Thank you for walking beside me, believing in me, and listening to my story.
Home is the most loving place we know.
Our little star shines because of you.
From Sarah's heart
- 🤍 Inspired by my own experience of being adopted
- ✍️ Every word is mine, written from my heart
- ✨ Pictures created with AI to bring my story to life
- 🎨 If my book grows, I'd love an illustrator to reimagine them
- 🧸 Keeping my precious pink teddy and little star 🌟
How I write
I try to write in simple, gentle words — words a child can follow, and a grown-up can recognise. I want the same page to hold both of you: the little one asking the question, and the adult remembering what it felt like to ask it. I leave room on every page, because big feelings need space to be felt, not hurried past.
The moments I love best are the small ones that hold a family together: muddy wellies by the door, dancing in the kitchen, bedtime stories, and rather a lot of snacks. Those little moments are where the biggest truths live — that a child's story begins before adoption, that every part of it matters, and that none of it is ever the child's fault.
And through every page runs a little golden star, quietly reminding each reader: still you, always you. 💛

What I'm looking for
The pictures were made with AI to bring my story to life. If my book grows, I'd love a real illustrator to reimagine them.
Soft, hand-drawn pictures full of heart. My little star and pink teddy in every scene. Cream, deep blue and warm gold. And a child who opens the book and sees their own story with pride.
If that sounds like the way you draw, I'd love to hear from you — illustrators and publishers both.
